Chopper Carrying Govt Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura Makes Emergency Landing Enroute to Kisumu

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Wednesday, May 8, revealed that a chopper that was ferrying him with Kenya Red Cross officials made an emergency landing while en route to Kisumu.

In a statement, he noted that the pilot had to land in Kikuyu owing to safety concerns for the passengers.

Mwaura indicated that the chopper could not continue with the journey given that the weather was poor, affecting visibility.

The government spokesperson noted that all the occupants were safe during the emergency landing.

“I am safe fellow Kenyans. Our plane had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency due to poor weather conditions.

“Idriss Ahmed the Secretary General of the Kenya Redcross and I had gone to Nyando in Kisumu to deliver relief of Non-Food Items (NFIs) to the Floods Affected Persons (FAPs). We arrived home safely and we thank God for this,” he stated.

Mwaura made the remarks after reports emerged over the incident involving the chopper which was ferrying them to Kisumu to monitor the recent flooding in the area.
