The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Tuesday, May 14, warned of falling rock debris along the Machakos- Kangundo Road.

In a public statement, the public was warned to be cautious when using the busy stretch.

According to KeNHA, the rocks have been falling in the middle of the road due to recent heavy rains that were witnessed in the region.

“We advise motorists to be vigilant while driving along this affected section of the road even as we remain on the lookout and clear the debris,” the statement read in part.

“Further, the Authority urges all road users to adhere to and follow traffic warning signs that have been installed along the affected areas.”

Meanwhile, the Kenya Meteorological Department in its 7-day weather forecast revealed that rains in the area had largely subsided.

The falling debris happened after motorists were warned of a similar incident in Mai Mahiu, Nakuru County on April 25.
