In a new development, Drake’s personal security guy was shot because of a feud with Kendrick Lamar


Toronto police reported an overnight shooting incident involving a security guard outside Canadian rapper Drake’s residence.

According to authorities, suspects in a vehicle shot the guard at the corner of the Park Lane Circle mansion around 02:00 EDT (06:00 GMT) on Tuesday and then fled.

It’s unclear whether Drake was present during the incident or if he was a target.

Drake is currently engaged in a public feud with US rapper Kendrick Lamar, but police stated it’s too early to determine a motive for the shooting.

Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force mentioned that they are in contact with Drake’s team, who are cooperating with the investigation. They are currently reviewing video footage of the shooting.

The victim is hospitalized in serious condition, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the chest.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern about the incident, emphasizing that any shooting is unwelcome in the city and hoping for swift justice.

The altercation between Drake and Lamar has escalated into a series of “diss tracks,” with Lamar’s latest song featuring artwork depicting Drake’s residence. In the song, Lamar makes allegations against Drake, which Drake vehemently denies in his response track.

Drake’s residence, known as The Embassy, has garnered attention for its security measures, including gates taller than city regulations permit.

As investigations continue, the property remains cordoned off, with police examining the scene.

Representatives for both artists have been contacted for comment by the BBC.
